WEDNESDAY 28 MARCH 2018
A warm welcome was given by the Chairman to all residents and guests who attended the meeting.

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD 28 FEBRUARY 2018 & MATERS ARISING: Minutes were accepted with one correction:
SUPERFAST BROADBAND CYMRU ENDS: Last sentence of this item on last month’s minutes should read – “Some 80,000 homes still waiting for superfast broadband in Wales”.
- Kingdom Security – County Council have decided to terminate their contract early with Kingdom Security.
POLICING ISSUES: PCSO Alison Williams unable to attend. A local resident stated that 3 loose horses have been seen on the roadway between the School and Malltraeth on a few evenings recently. If anyone comes across them again, please inform the North Wales Police.
BROADBAND: Capell Aris reported that he has written letters to Rhun Ap Iorwerth AS, and Albert Owen MP regarding the fibre-optic work being incomplete. Rhun Ap Iorwerth had replied stating that other complaints had been received regarding this issue. It seems that the work will not re-start until the end of the summer. Capell was thanked for his efforts.
TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR: Dafydd reported that the Community Council will take ownership of the defibrillator, and also the maintenance thereof. It will still be kept at the Community Centre.
COUNTY COUNCIL – BETHEL ROAD IMPROVEMENT: Cllr P Rogers read out an
E-mail from the County Council regarding this subject which stated that repairing flooding work takes priority at present. After discussion, Dafydd suggested that he write to the County Council stating our dissatisfaction with their decision. All agreed.
FUND FOR WALES APPLICATION UPDATE: Still waiting for a reply.
COMMUNITY FUN DAY/EVENING CONCERT 16 JUNE UPDATE: Preparations for both events well in hand. All acts participating for the concert have been booked.
150 CLUB: Last call to purchase numbers.
“DOWN MEMORY LANE”: Dafydd reported that this event was a great success. Ali and Judith were thanked in their absence for all their efforts put into the evening. A surplus of £525 is going back into our funds.
FUTURE OF THE COMMUNITY CENTRE; with no contact for the past 25 months from the County Council regarding the Community Centre, Dafydd has received an invitation to an informal “without prejudice” meeting with the Council’s Principal Valuation Officer at Llangefni. He will report back to the group at our next meeting.
COMMUNITY ISSUES:
- No news on the Bodorgan Estate parking fees as yet.
- Our thanks were given to Rachel Sayer for all that she has done with the group over the years. We wish her well with her house move to Newborough.
- Christine Garbutt reported that the tapestry project was going well. Booklets available for the Open Studios which will run until 8 April.
- New information board at Bethel will be in place soon.
- Footpath in Hermon – The County Council will put in a flat surface to replace the steps on this path in the next financial year.
- Independent Remuneration For Wales – Dafydd referred to this panel and expressed disappointment with their latest proposals. They have now come up with a scheme that could see Community/Town councillors being paid. The councils have been divided to three group’s dependant on the level of the annual precept. For authorities whose precept is less than £30K, Group C, payment depends on the outcome of a vote. The Bodorgan community council unanimously voted not to accept payment, and it appears that most similar authorities on Anglesey have made the same decision. The proposed level of payment for Group C was £150 per member plus a discretionary additional allowance for the Chair. For Bodorgan, this would have equated to an additional minimum of £1500 on the precept which cannot be justified.
