MINUTES OF MEETING HELD 25 JUY 2018 & MATTERS ARISING: Minutes were approved as a true record of events and unanimously accepted by the group.

The chair gave thanks to Cllr. Bryan Owen re filling of pot holes on road to Bodorgan Estate Office.

Dafydd reported on situation with community centre – the legal team have written to the authority with a deadline of Friday 28 September. Dafydd to arrange a structural survey in the near future.

The group congratulated Ali and Jude for raising £1956 at their Breast Cancer fund raiser.

POLICING MATTERS: No representative of the NW Police available to attend.

BODORGAN PENSIONERS LUNCH CLUB: Lunch club is to continue every other Tuesday with the next lunch on Tuesday 9th October. Presently lunch is being supplied by Llys Llewelyn centre. Councillor Bryan Owen had spoken to education department stating that there is a possibility of Ysgol Newborough providing lunch.

AUTUMN CONCERT: Date for concert is 26 October 7 pm, featuring Wil Tan/Monswn. Tickets now available. Request for volunteers to man the door and serve refreshments.

PENSIONERS CHRISTMAS LUNCH: Tuesday 11 December – 12 pm for 12.30 pm. The importance of giving adequate notice if unable to attend was stressed by Dafydd as last year Caterlink had to be paid for meals where people had not turned up. Maggie and manager of Caterlink providing meal.

HALLOWEEN/CHRISTMAS EVENTS: Halloween Disco Wednesday 31 October for Bodorgan children. Date for Christmas event to be confirmed.

WALES NATIONAL EXERCISE REFERRAL SCHEME: Eric Haworth explained the principle about the referral scheme which is currently being attended by several Bodorgan residents in Llangefni. All sessions are free. Currently they are held on a Tuesday at 1 pm & 2 pm at Llangefni Town Hall.

As the community centre is now available during the day with safe parking, there could be a possibility of holding a weekly session at Bodorgan Community Centre with the cost of rent being funded if there were 10+ people wishing to participate. The course is approximately 32 weeks long. Anyone interested to contact Dafydd with their details.

TREFDRAETH DEFRIBRILLATOR: An update was given by Capel Aris. A defibrillator is to be installed into the old telephone box at Plas Marian. The cost is approximately £1400 +VAT. Possible fund from the Heart Foundation with the rest to be funded by residents. It was proposed that insurance costs could be funded by the Community Council. Capel to email Dafydd details.

Process for accessing the defibrillator situated in the community centre is to contact key holder Margaret Roberts or Dafydd who will give access. If defibrillator is positioned outside such as in Newborough the ambulance service should be contacted who will give key code for access.

HIGHWAYS ISSUES:

  1. Bethel visibility at Bryn Poeth junction – Authority in process of cutting hedges.
  2. Visibility Mirrors – Authority to visit early next week.
  3. Maes Glas, Bethel – Councillor Bryan Owen to follow up with highways replacement of pedestrian sign in Bethel

SHIPPING CONTAINER: Ysgol Bodorgan are to terminate their lease on the shipping container situated outside the community centre. Cost of purchasing container would be £1600 + VAT or a lease at a cost of £1 per day. As we are not in an uncertain situation with the community centre, a lease would be the better option now. Dafydd suggested sharing cost of leasing between Malltraeth Ymlaen, Community Centre Trustees and Community Council. This would be a cost of £50 every 6 months.

WHERE/WHAT NEXT (Open Forum): It was felt that pursuing the purchase of the school as a community facility was enough at present. Dafydd gave brief background about community centre and solicitors acting on our behalf. We are still awaiting response from the local authority.

Dafydd to email Charles Harvey re website
